Red Tail Project
The Red Tail Project’s mission is to identify and preserve the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. We currently offer educational resources, are planning a traveling museum, and are now restoring a rare P-51C Mustang, one of the types of aircraft flown by the Airmen. The plane was once and will be again, America’s flying tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, helping to tell their story of victory on the battlefield during World War II through courage, sacrifice and perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles. After the war, they continued to exhibit their indomitable spirit at home, overcoming racism to succeed as American citizens.
